For my birthday Dan gave me three new macro lenses. Here are some of the pictures I have taken with them….
Strandveld
Dan and I headed to Strandveld, near Bredasdorp, for the long weekend. Its the southern most vineyard in South Africa and has some fantastic sauvignon blanc. There used to be hippos, elephants, buffalos and lions in the area. They have reintroduced buffalos and hippos, although we didn’t manage to spot them in the swollen rivers. Rooikar (Dan’s trusty steed) forged rivers and we enjoyed a relaxing weekend in a gorgeous thick walled cottage where Dan made potjie, balsamic lamb chops and all sorts of other delicious food. We ran, wandered around the farm and searched for the elusive rooikat (I saw some gruesome signs of his last meal) and spied on the flamingos. We also saw hundreds of blue cranes in the canola fields with snow capped peaks as the backdrop. We picnicked on the Cape’s southern-most stony beach. We also went to Bredasdorp for tea and scones and Napier where we found bottles for the wedding. It must be love, love, love…
